Financial abuse in relationships

Let’s not be blind and have a look into the financial situation of a relationship.

Financial abuse, less known but another form of domestic violence, is a manipulation of finances and economic resources aimed at controlling the partner, leading to dependence and vulnerability.

Here are key points to know about Financial Abuse:

  1. 1. Control over finances: An abuser might restrict access to bank accounts, withhold money, or demand an account of every penny spent, leaving the victim financially helpless.

They usually ask you to spend time with them rather to work or study! Don’t loose this precious time! If he is the right person and the mature man you need in your life, then He will support and wait you!

The abusing man will always keep an eye on your finances and your growth. Will try to isolate and make you depend on him!

    Be aware!

  2. 2.Forbidding employment or sabotaging work: The abuser might prevent you from working, causing financial dependence and limiting their ability to leave the relationship.

Who controls your finances, controls you!

Don’t be slave to anyone; your life, future and independence are important!

  3. 3.Sabotaging your studies or employment opportunities: Don’t Ruin your future by being blind in love with someone!

That should tell you that it’s the wrong time for you and it’s better to wait another year before giving in a relationship.

Don’t let anyone to jeopardize your self esteem, confidence or any job prospects!

  4. 4. Using money to assert dominance: if your partner is putting you in a position to beg for money, or he “borrows” continuously with no ”repayment” or making you feel guilty for spending, then you should know these are common tactics for abusers in relationships and nothing constructive can happen in a relationship with them!

    Remember you are nobody’s Bank!

  5. 5. Threats and intimidation: The abuser may threaten to withhold financial support, take away shared assets, or ruin your credit to maintain control and set fear.

Don’t let yourself intimidated! Walk away! You don’t need this kind of partner in your life!

Semnalele de alarma in relația abuziva!

Breaking the Silence: Understanding the Impact of Emotional Abuse

During my professional experience as IDVA, almost every individual I've encountered first endured emotional abuse in their relationships. It's a silent predator, making way through feelings of love and trust towards the partner/ perpetrator, leaving its victims in a not visible “blood pool”, with permanent unseen wounds. Many women don't immediately recognize it as emotional abuse.  They may describe it as mentally torment, overwhelming fear due to constant threats, or energetically drained from enduring belittlement, lack of support and understanding. The absence of physical abuse often masks the severity of this form of violence. Sometimes they are so brave that they believe they can endure more for the sake of children. Other times, they can’t recognise it because in their family and environment it always has been like that. From father to son, this form of behaviour is considered man-ish. The Emotional abusor is the master of manipulation, control, and he can erode any...
